User Guides.

Fleetometer can monitor several types of sensors. Sensor monitoring is one of the powerful integration capabilities of the system, which sets it apart from a standard fleet tracking system. Depending on your selected terminal, sensors can be integrated by wire (panic buttons, beacon activations etc.), Bluetooth (BLE temperature, magnetic, driver identification) or via the OBD port (vehicle data such as fuel levels, fault codes, engine parameters). Fleetometer will transmit this data to your portal allowing you to keep track of not just vehicle location, speed etc, but additional information related to your operations.

The types of sensors available in Fleetometer are divided into six groups:

  • digital,
  • gauges,
  • engine,
  • fuel,
  • other.

Digital Sensors

This group consists of sensors which can have only two states. For example, on/off, activated/deactivated, and so on. Most of these sensors are available with Fleetometer wire-in terminals only.

Sensor type Units of measurement Description
Engine ignition sensor On/Off  The sensor which shows whether the ignition is on or off. These can be either wired directly (wire-in terminal only) or sensed virtually by a combination of other parameters (external voltage, movement etc)
Alarm trigger none This sensor is linked to panic buttons/SOS if installed (wire-in terminal only).
Private mode On/Off  This sensor is used to determine the trip type (Business/ Private) and can be linked to an external switch. This is an optional feature which allows you to hide the unit’s location under certain circumstances that may be private.
Custom digital sensor On/Off  A custom sensor which has two states: on/off, activated/deactivated, etc. You can use this to monitor  activations or beacons, sirens, winches etc.

Gauge Sensors

This group contains sensors which are used to measure analog values such as voltage, weight, acceleration, temperature.

Sensor type Units of measurement Description
Weight sensor t (tons), pounds This sensor can be linked to your weight sensor to determine the weight of transported goods. Contact us for integration options. Please include details/specifications of your weight monitoring system.
Temperature sensor °C (degrees Celsius), °F (degrees Fahrenheit) This sensor integrates with a wireless BLE sensor.

Engine Sensors

This group includes sensors which are used to measure values associated with the engine operation. They are available with Fleetometer OBD terminals only.

Sensor type Units of measurement Description
Engine revolution sensor rpm (rounds per minute) The sensor which shows the frequency of engine revolutions.
Absolute engine hours h (hours) The sensor which shows the total number of engine hours. This is typically useful in equipment such as generators to keep track of maintenance/usage.

Fuel Sensors

This group consists of sensors which can be used to determine the amount of consumed fuel and the fuel level in the tank (OBD Terminals only).

Sensor type Units of measurement Description
Fuel level sensor  l (liters), gal (gallons) The sensor which determines the fuel level in the tank. We use the volume of your fuel tank to calculate this value. Submit your tank details to us for more accurate fuel levels.

Other Sensors

This group includes a custom sensors. If you have questions about using custom sensors, please use our contact form and let us know how we can help.

Sensor type Units of measurement Description
Counter sensor any A sensor which allows determining intensity of passenger traffic or the number of certain actions (for example, opening and closing a door).
Custom sensor any A sensor which can be configured to measure any value. You can specify any unit of measurement for this sensor.
