About fleet management

Fleet management systems allow you to manage your fleet activity in a way that helps achieve your business objectives more efficiently. This could mean reducing operation costs, helping with compliance requirements, tackling exceptions/problems, improving customer confidence and reducing risk. It typically requires a terminal or transponder that’s fitted in a vehicle, a reliable wireless network and a backend server with customer portal. Fleet management systems are evolving to include monitoring of more types of assets (not just vehicles), and integration with sensors and vehicle data systems for alerting on surrounding conditions/parameters.

Choose a terminal

Fleetometer offers three types of terminals. An OBD plug that plugs into your car’s OBD port, a wire-in terminal that can be hidden and connected to hardwired inputs/outputs and an emulated software terminal, which is essentially an app that converts your phone to a tracking device.

OBD: Offers all features except hard wired inputs and outputs. Also allows reading the car’s OBD data like fuel levels, engine performance parameters etc. It can also connect to IoT sensors via Bluetooth.

Wire-in: Robust unit that can be used in industrial equipment. You can connect wired inputs such as a panic button. Can connect to IoT sensors via Bluetooth.

Terminal emulator/app: The most affordable option, but in this case you track the phone, not the vehicle. Limited I/O options, can drain phone’s battery life.
