The unit properties window is shown when editing a unit. In this window, you can specify unit odometer values, change the icons, configure track visuals and view sensor lists. Service interval configuration is part of the Maintenance feature set, and is available in Fleet Advanced and Premium packages only. 

General

 

On the General tab, you can rename the unit depending on the vehicle/asset being tracked, and you can also configure the mileage and engine hour counters.

Mileage counter

You can select one of the following mileage calculation methods:

Method Description
GPS

Calculation based on GPS coordinates (possible for any Fleetometer model). This is the recommended option.

Mileage sensor Calculation based on the mileage sensor. This is only compatible with Fleetometer OBD terminals, and depends on the availability of this data from your vehicle’s OBD port. 

Engine hours counter

The counter of engine hours calculates the working time based on the following sensors:

  • engine ignition sensor;
  • sensor of absolute engine hours;
  • sensor of relative engine hours.

Icon

 

On this tab of the unit properties, you can select an icon which is used to identify the unit on the map and in the unit lists.

You can use either standard or custom icons. To select a standard icon, click on the Icon library button. To upload a custom icon, click on the chosen icon, select the image on the disk, and click OK. Supported formats are PNG, JPG, GIF, and SVG. The recommended image size is 32×32 pixels. To replace the icon with a standard one, point to the image and click on the icon .

If you want the unit icon to rotate on the map depending on the direction of its movement, enable the Rotate icon option. To make it easier to determine the direction of movement, use an icon which is directed strictly upwards (for example, like this: ).

Advanced – Track colors

 

In this section, you can set the colour for tracks, that is, the lines of unit movement on the map. The tracks are mapped on the Tracks, Reports, and Monitoring tabs (the Quick track option).

Tracks can be single- or multi-coloured depending on the settings according to which the colour is determined. You can select one of the four options: 

  • by trips;
  • single;
  • by speed;
  • by sensor.

The option selected in this section is also selected for the Tracks tab by default.

Item Description
By trips The track is divided into sections of different colours, each of which corresponds to one trip. 
Single

The track is single-coloured. This option is useful when mapping tracks for unit groups because they don’t merge with each other in this way. You can select a colour from the palette.

If you map several tracks in a row, the next colour from the palette is used for each track.

By speed

The track is multi-coloured depending on the unit speed. To add an interval, click on the icon , specify the speed values ​​and the colour for the interval, and click OK. An empty value in the first field is considered as -∞, in the second as + ∞. You can select the colour from the palette or specify it in the HEX format in the field above.

The created intervals are shown on the line scale. To edit an interval, click on it, make changes, and click OK.

To reset the settings to the default ones, click on the icon  to the right of the scale.

Sensors

 

On this tab, you can view sensors for the unit and configure their visibility in different areas of the application. Sensors are either parameters monitored directly by the Fleetometer terminal, or parameters derived from I/O devices connected to it. You can use the names of these sensors in masks when creating notifications. 

The sensors are displayed in the table with the following columns:
Column Description
Name, Type, Unit, Parameter, Description Unit details provided when the sensors were set up by the Fleetometer team.
Visible

The option which allows you to hide or show the sensor and its values in some places of the interface:

Time The option which allows you to display the sensor value with the time since this value was received. For example, “Ignition: On (15 minutes 35 seconds ago)”. After receiving a new value, the time is counted again.

Open the sensor properties.

To find a specific sensor among the created ones, use the dynamic search above the table. It allows searching for sensors by name, type and parameter.

To move a line with a sensor up or down in the list, drag the line using the icon . If the sensors are filtered using the dynamic search, this feature is unavailable. The order of sensors configured on the tab is also taken into account in those places of the interface where sensor values are shown (see the description of the Visible column above).

Unit Groups

 

On this tab, you can add the unit to unit groups (or remove it from them) and see the groups to which it has already been added. 

The left list shows all the available groups. The right list shows those groups to which the unit is added.

To add the unit to a group, move the group from the left list to the right one; to remove, vice versa. To move groups, use the icons / or double-click on the selected groups.

Profile

 

On this tab, you can enter the registration and technical information about the unit. Depending on the options activated in the user settings, profile properties can be displayed in the work list and/or in the unit tooltip. You can request these properties in custom reports, or export them.

VIN code

 

The VIN field allows filling in the fields on the tab automatically with the information available for the VIN. Enter the vehicle identification number, which consists of 17 digits and letters. Click Check VIN to fill in the fields with the data available for the indicated VIN. To save the changes, click OK. To quit without saving, click Cancel.

You cannot verify more than three unique VIN codes a week for one unit.

Vehicle type

 

This parameter comprises two fields, clicking on which opens a library of vehicle types. In the left part of the library, the following vehicle types are displayed:

  • cargo transport;
  • passenger transport;
  • special machinery;
  • others.

Point to a type to see its subtypes in the right part of the list. To quickly find the required subtype, use the dynamic search. When you select the subtype, it is indicated in the lower field, while the type is specified in the upper one. To cancel the selection, click on the icon .

If the vehicle type is not indicated and the system has determined it for the selected unit, then you can see a pop-up menu which allows applying this type to the unit. When it is applied, the vehicle subtype field remains empty (you may fill it in by selecting the required subtype in the library of types).

All the subtypes that you have ever selected for units are stored in the Recently used section of the library. To remove a subtype from this section, point to it and click on the icon .

After saving the selected type and subtype, the value Vehicle is automatically indicated in the Unit type field on the General tab.

Other profile properties

 

The other fields on the tab can be divided into standard text fields and combo boxes. There is a limit of 50 characters for both field types.

The combo boxes include brand, model, colour, comment, engine model, engine power, engine displacement, fuel type, cargo type. You can perform the following actions with these fields:

  • enter a value manually;
  • select a value from the drop-down list;
  • filter the drop-down list by the entered value.

The drop-down list contains the values saved in the reference book. The reference book may contain up to 100 values for each combo box. You can fill in the reference book manually (open by clicking on the icon to the right of a combo box and add new values) or automatically (enter values in the combo boxes and save the profile properties).
